Genesis
The literal colleague
Fast, tireless, never embarrassed: it remembers nothing between sessions, fills every gap with invention, and always sounds sure.
Every lesson in this canon describes one coworker. It reads faster than you, types faster than you, and has read more than everyone you have ever met combined. It also arrives at every session with total amnesia, treats your silences as permission to invent, and delivers its worst guess in the same confident register as its best fact. None of that is malice. It is the shape of the machine.
Working well with it means holding both truths at once. Underestimate it and you leave enormous leverage unused. Anthropomorphize it and you extend trust it has no way to hold: you assume it remembers last week, knows your context, notices when it is wrong. It doesn't, and nothing in its fluent, agreeable tone will warn you.
How to practice it
Assume amnesia.
Every session starts from zero. Anything it must know, you bring: the file, the decision, the constraint. If you catch yourself thinking it should already remember this: it doesn't.
Silence is invention.
Any detail you leave unstated gets filled with the statistically plausible, not with your intent. The gap you left is the bug you get.
Confidence is not evidence.
Its tone never varies with its accuracy. Ask where a claim came from instead of judging how sure it sounds.
It is never embarrassed.
It will not hedge when lost or warn when out of its depth. The checks a nervous junior runs on themselves, you must run from the outside.
